This is a site about the 1990-96 Chevy Lumina APV van. As of June, 2011, it is in its infancy, but after weeks of searching around the Internet for fascinating vehicles of yore, I decided that, after having purchased five of these vans, with three still on the property, I should spend my time enthusing about them instead of a 1963 Pontiac Tempest. After all, a Lumina APV with the 3800 or 3100 engine will give performance as good as the '63 Tempest with the 326 V-8, but get far better gas mileage, while lugging up to seven people and/or a number of combinations of tandem bicycles. I logged 29mpg coming across Ohio in #3, my first '95, when I brought it from Indiana. That's it above, not long after I got it, around 2005, from a Chevrolet dealer, for $2,400. Doesn't look quite as good now, but it's still my favorite out of the three.

It all started with a 1990 APV which I rescued from a junk yard. Ironically, I paid the most for it, out of all five--$3,000. That was in 1997. I had wanted one ever since they first came out, with the front door window styling resembling the fabled Greyhound PD-3751 buses--the ones that had rear windows with eyes like a cat. Yes, I'm a bus driver, among other things, and could tell many stories about that. I was also impressed with the plastic body. I was at the time looking at a Pontiac Fiero with a V-6, but wound up getting the van instead.

Here's the breakdown: #1 1990--$3,000 (junk yard)
#2 1992--$100 (private owner)
#3 1995--$2,400 (Chevrolet dealer)
#4 1996--$603 (eBay)
#5 1995--$1,575 (wholesaler)

But that's all for tonight. If you want to leave me a message, you can navigate to my tandem cycling blog (link at the top of the page) and comment on my most recent posting there. Eventually, this site will have its own blog, but tonight I want to get some sleep!
