Mileposters activities began as offseason events in the fall of 2007, including
summer and winter Games Nights, Christmas caroling, worship music, and community events.
Games Nights include Bible study, prayer, and singing prior to the start of the
games, with air hockey, foosball, checkers, bowling, hide-and-seek, Carrom, Monopoly,
and others. Participants are welcome to bring favorite family games, and to bring their
families as well, including parents! Movies Nights began in January of 2009, and
roller skating in November 2009. (SCROLL down)

On March 26 and April 9, 2011, Mileposters skaters participated in two events at
Neville Roller Drome to raise support for the people of Japan, following the earthquake
and tsunami, to be distributed by Lutheran World Relief and Human Care. A total of ten skaters
participated, pausing for a time of fellowship in fast food restaurants along Ohio River Boulevard
after skating. One of the skaters has a Japanese mother; the family has canceled a trip to Japan
for this summer because of the disaster.

On February 5, 2011, there was a special celebration at St. Thomas Lutheran Church,
Mileposters home base, to recognize the
efforts of Mileposters tandem cyclists, roller skaters, and parents, who raised, during 2010,
nearly $10,000.00 for Lutheran ministries in
the Pittsburgh area. Terry Nelson Taylor, president of PALM (Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Ministries),
the Rev. Eric Andrae, campus pastor of First Trinity Lutheran Church in the Oakland (college campus)
neighborhood of Pittsburgh,
and the Rev. Steve Niermann, pastor of St. Thomas, addressed the group, who enjoyed a
time of fellowship with jokes and pizza. Mileposters also raised $10,000.00 during 2009.

Mileposters rode the Western Maryland train from Cumberland to Frostburg on
November 15, 2008, pulled by Western Maryland steam engine 734.
The city was celebrating "Cumberland Goes to War,"
and aboard the train were many re-enactors in World War II uniform.

August in October! The month was seven days old when this picture was taken, with four
Mileposters in Ohio, braving the heat and glaring sun at Milepost 50 on the
Byesville Scenic Railway. No trail is planned here, but the kids enjoyed the ride
to the music of Ohio Central Railroad steam engine No. 1293, learning about coal
mining from volunteer docents aboard the train. (2007)
